Creating Cloud Connection (Alibaba Cloud)

This page explains how to connect to Alibaba Cloud using the Create Cloud Connection function on the OCX Portal.

Preparation​

Please confirm the following before creating a Cloud Connection:

  1. Your User Role is either admin or user.

  2. Ensure you have applied for Alibaba Cloud in advance and have the following information ready:

    • Alibaba Account ID

Procedure for Creating a Cloud Connection (Alibaba Cloud)​

  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.

  2. Click [Cloud Connections] from the left navigation bar.

  3. On the Cloud Connections list page, click [Create] and select Alibaba Cloud.

  4. The screen will switch to the information input screen. Fill in the following items and click [Create]. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

    • Choose either Cloud Connection with Redundancy or Cloud Connection without Redundancy.
    • If Cloud Connection with Redundancy is selected, enter the following settings for both the Primary and Secondary Cloud Connections.
    • Note: You do not need to enter a VLAN-ID; it will be "Automatically Assigned."
    • Name
      • Set an arbitrary name. Especially when creating multiple Cloud Connections, entering a name that is easily identifiable will make management easier.
      • Maximum length is 40 characters.
      • Any leading or trailing whitespace in the resource name will be automatically removed.
    • Speed (Bandwidth)
      • Select a value from 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500Mbps, 1, 2, 5Gbps.
      • Note: The same value will be applied to both Primary and Secondary Cloud Connections.
    • Cloud Name
      • Alibaba Cloud will be displayed.
    • Cloud NNI PoP Name
      • Select the desired location from the drop-down menu.
    • Account ID
      • Enter your 16-digit Alibaba Cloud account ID (half-width numbers).

  5. The [Confirm Creation] pop-up will appear. Review the costs associated with creation and click [Create].

  6. The Cloud Connections list page will be displayed. Confirm that the status of the created Cloud Connection becomes available. Also, ensure that the status billing pending is displayed, indicating there is a grace period before billing starts.

This completes the creation of the Cloud Connection (Alibaba Cloud).

Confirmation on the Alibaba Cloud Console​

  1. After completing the creation on the OCX Portal, confirm that the corresponding Physical Connection (physical port) exists in the Alibaba Cloud console.
  • The name of the Physical Connection on the Alibaba Cloud console is automatically generated. You can check the Instance ID of the Physical Connection linked to the Cloud Connection by clicking the Information icon in the Actions column on the right side of the created Cloud Connection entry.
  1. Click Accept and Pay in the Actions column of the corresponding Physical Connection to approve the connection.
  • If you delete the Physical Connection at this stage, the Cloud Connection will remain created but without a corresponding Physical Connection. In that case, please delete the Cloud Connection and create it again.

Remarks​

  • By performing the decommission (deletion) operation within 72 hours of creating the Cloud Connection, the billing will be canceled. For the deletion procedure, please refer to here.
