Creating Cloud Connection (Oracle Cloud)

This page explains how to connect to OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) using the Create Cloud Connection function on the OCX Portal.

Preparation

Please confirm the following before creating a Cloud Connection:

  1. Your User Role is either admin or user.
  2. Create a FastConnect in the Oracle Cloud console and have the following information ready:
    • The OCID of the target resource (FastConnect).
    • For instructions on creating FastConnect, please refer to the following (External links):

Procedure for Creating a Cloud Connection (Oracle Cloud)

For Oracle Cloud, the connection is established by first creating a FastConnect in the Oracle Cloud console and then creating a Cloud Connection in the OCX Portal.

  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.

  2. Click [Cloud Connections] from the left navigation bar.

  3. On the Cloud Connections list page, click [Create] and select Oracle Cloud Platform.

  4. The screen will switch to the information input page. Fill in the following items and click [Create]. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

    • Select either Cloud Connection without Redundancy or Cloud Connection with Redundancy.
    • If Cloud Connection with Redundancy is selected, enter the settings for both the Primary and Secondary Cloud Connections.
    • Name
      • Set an arbitrary name (max 40 characters). Leading/trailing whitespace will be automatically removed. Using easily identifiable names is recommended when managing multiple connections.
    • Speed (Bandwidth)
      • Select a value from 1, 2, or 5Gbps.
    • Cloud Name
      • Oracle Cloud will be displayed.
    • Cloud NNI PoP Name
      • Select the desired location from the drop-down menu.
    • OCID
      • Enter the OCID of the target FastConnect.
      • Note: An OCID that has been used once cannot be reused. If you create a new Cloud Connection, a new FastConnect OCID will be required.
  5. The [Confirm Creation] pop-up will appear. Review the costs and click [Create].

  6. You will be returned to the Cloud Connections list page. Confirm that the status of the created Cloud Connection becomes available. Also, ensure that the status billing pending is displayed, indicating the grace period before billing begins.

This completes the creation of the Cloud Connection (Oracle Cloud).

Confirmation on Oracle Cloud Console

  1. After completing the creation on the OCX Portal, check the Oracle Cloud console to confirm that the FastConnect status has changed from Pending Partner to Provisioning or Provisioned.
