Manual Enabling and Disabling of Physical Port

This page explains how to manually enable and disable a Physical Port’s link status using the OCX Portal.

Preparation

Please confirm the following before changing a Physical Port’s link status:

  1. Your User Role is either admin or user.
  2. The Physical Port status is one of the following: ordered, available, or bundled.

Reference

  • This function is useful during cross-connect installations to identify the target line by connecting an optical power meter and performing shutdown/no-shutdown operations.
  • It can be used for testing failover/redirection functions of customer equipment or testing degenerate operations by disconnecting an active line.
  • If a link flaps within a short period, our switch may enter an "err-disabled" state. In such cases, performing a shutdown/no-shutdown operation can restore the link.

Notes

  • Disabling a Physical Port stops transmission and reception on the optical interface and disconnects all communication.
  • No light will be emitted from the optical interface during a shutdown.
  1. Log in to the OCX Portal.
  2. Click [Physical Ports] from the left navigation bar.
  3. Once the Physical Ports list page is displayed, click the Information icon in the Actions column on the right side of the Physical Port you wish to control.
  4. The [Information] pop-up will be displayed.
  5. In the Link Control section, you will see the [Shutdown Port] and [Bring Port Up] buttons. Click the button for the control action you wish to execute.
  6. A confirmation pop-up for link control will appear. Click [OK].

To cancel the operation, click [Cancel].
